Pilipa'a Volleyball

15’s Game Day 3

Orlando, Florida – Pilipa’a 15’s third day proved to be the most challenging of the tournament so far. The level of competition in the top half of the winners bracket was much improved. Pilipa’a played well and had many strong moments, however they finished 0-3 for the day.

Pilipa’a faced Criollas Papo of Puerto Rico. Criollas was undefeated coming in to the day. They were well-disciplined and had excellent ball control. Pilipa’a took some big swings and was able to score against them. They played some exciting volleyball, however the consistency of Puerto Rican team proved to be the difference in the 0-2 (15-25, 16-25) loss.

Pilipa’a played Xcel Volleyball 15X Select of North Carolina in their second match.  Pilipa’a came out swinging away in  game one. They played more consistently and won the game 25-20.  Ball control challenges led to losses in games two and three and  Pilipa’a losing the match 1-2 (25-20, 18-25, 8-15).

Pilipa’a played Milwaukee Sting  in their final match of the day.  Again, Pilipa’a played well through much of the match.  Despite the tough challenges throughout the day, Pilipa’a refused to give up, however,  the big Wisconsin team was just a bit more steady.  The final score was 0-2 (18-25, 25-27).

Pilipa’a will play Club Fusion 15 White at 9am (EST) tomorrow morning in a single-elimination diamond bracket and will conclude play in the 15’s division of the 43rd Annual AAU National Championship tomorrow.

The Pilipa’a 16’s will begin play on Thursday.
