Pilipa'a Volleyball

Atlanta 09 – Day 8 (17’s Game Day 1)

The Pilipa’a 17’s began pool play in the 2009 USA Volleyball Junior Olympics at the Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia this afternoon.

The 17’s came out strong on the first day and overpowered their three opponents to  finish the day with a 3-0 record. In their first match, they defeated 17’s Black of  the Great Lakes Region  (25-13, 25-14).  The second match was similar to the first with Pilipa’a’s balanced attack and strong defense leading to  a quick victory over CT Juniors of the New England Region (25-13, 25-15). Pilipa’a faced Bay to Bay 17 Nike Blue of Northern California in their final match of the evening.  Bay to Bay put up a spirited fight, but Pilipa’a was focused on winning the pool and claiming the top seed for their pool on day 2.  Pilipa’a defeated Bay to Bay (25-11, 25-21).

The Pilipa’a 17’s will face Warren Sixpak 17 Blue of the Garden Empire Region tomorrow afternoon at 3pm Eastern.
