The Pilipa’a 17’s entered play on day 2 of the USA Volleyball Junior Olympics as a the top seed in their pool.  They  proved worthy of the seeding as they went 3-0 for the day.

The 17’s faced Warren SixPack of New Jersey and fell behind early before rallying for a 3-game victory (23-25, 25-22, 15-12).  The challenge was a healthy learning experience for the 17’s as it would not be the last 3-game match of the day for them.

Pilipa’a played Yorktowne 17’s Black of Pennsylvania in their second match and looked strong as they cruised to an easy win (25-22, 25-20).

Pilipa’a  was matched up witha a vocal Santa Monica Beach Club team from California in their third match of the night.  The 17’s came out very fired up  to start the match and  jumped out to an early lead in game 1 and didn’t let up, finishing game 1 25-13.  Game two was almost the complete opposite as Santa Monica controlled the tempo of the game and took advantage of numerous Pilipa’a errors to win 18-25.  Pilipa’a regained their composure in the 3rd set to win 15-10 and finish the day 3-0.

Pilipa’a’s record is now 6-0 and they advance into the top 16. They’ll face Vaqueros of Puerto Rico, Bay to Bay Nike for the second time (they defeated Bay to Bay in round 1) and a team yet to be determined.
