Pilipa’a 18’s finish 19th

Dallas, Texas – The Pilipa’a Boys 18U team concluded play Saturday morning  at the 2016 USA Volleyball Junior National Championships  with a loss in the semi-finals of the Bronze bracket to Adversity 18 Purple 0-2 (22-25, 18-25).

Pilipa’a finished the tournament 6-7 and tied for 19th in the 75-team field. The six wins included big wins in a challenge match and two single-game tie-breakers to keep them in the top third of the field.

“Our system was pretty solid, despite being undersized, especially in the middle, ” said Head Coach Ecko Osorio. “We played great at times and it was great experience for our boys. Hopefully this experience will motivate our boys that have a chance to return in the future,” Osorio added.

It was also a great experience for the Pilipa’a boys as spectators at two Men’s USA Volleyball matches.  They were able  support Hawaii’ boys Micah Christianson, Erik and Kawika Shoji and Team USA as they defeated Australia and  defending Olympic Champion Russia.

The Pilipa’a 18’s team includes:  Kolby Aiona, Kaniela Alviar, Marcus Kenui, Israel Mata, Clayson Morante, Caleb Roque, Conor See, Kanoa Sniveley, Santana Soares-Madrid, Kyron Toriano, Head Coach Ecko Osorio, Asst. Coach Clayton Morante, and Chaperone Carla Osorio.
