Pilipa’a battles back for first victory in Detroit

Detroit, MI – The Pilipa’a Girls 16-team finished day two with a strong come-from-behind 2-1 (21-25, 28-26, 15-9) victory over A5 of Atlanta, Georgia. Pilipa’a, while impressive at times, struggled with consistency during their first four matches at the 2018 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship.  The final game of day two started nearly an hour behind schedule and Pilipa’a started even slower dropping game one and falling behind to start game two before finding their rhythm.  Pilipa’a passing improved significantly in the second half of game two leading to big improvements in their setting and hitting.  Pilipa’a  was down fought off match point to tie the game at 24.  The two teams traded points before Pilipa’a finally pulled ahead to win game two 28-26.  Pilipa’a  looked much more comfortable and confident  in game three and cruised to 15-9  win to capture the best of three match.

Pilipa’a will face Sky High-Adidas 16 White of the Great Lakes Region on Tuesday at 7pm Eastern (1pm HST).
