Pilipa’a puts up a triple block on day 1 of competition at the USA Volleyball Boys’ National Championship

Houston, Texas – The Pilipa’a Boys 18’s team finished the first day of pool play at the USA Volleyball Junior National Championship with a 2-1 record.

Pilipa’a began the day with a disappointing 2-0 (25-18, 25-20) loss to a tough SVC 18Under Fernando team from Puerto Rico.  Pilipa’a turned things around with a 2-0 (25-17, 25-22) win over Orlando Gold 18 Black of Florida and close 2-1 (25-22, 23-25, 15-7) win over Akamai 18’s Paka of Southern California.

Pilipa’a began the tournament as the 44th seed and has assumed the 17th seed with their 2nd place finish in pool play.  They advance to a three-team pool on Sunday that includes 20th seed SG 18 Elite and 2nd seed OCVC 18 Hurley of Southern California. Pilipa’a will play at 4pm CDT (11am Hawaii).
