ahuna-picIt was a big week for Ka’iu Ahuna (Pilipa’a 15) a sophomore outside hitter and her Easternewu Washington Eagles. Ahuna earned Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week Honors for stellar performances in a huge win over defending conference champions Northern Arizona 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21) and a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21) sweep of Sothern Utah.  Ahuna racked up two more double-doubles with 18 kills/19 digs against NAU and 15 kills/11 digs against Southern Utah.

zoeleonardZoe Leonard (Pilipa’a ’15) a sophomore libero/setter and her Dartmouth dropped two matches dartmouthon the road last week.  It was a tough road trip with a 3-0 (17-25, 9-25, 20-25) loss to Yale and a 3-1 (11-25, 19-25, 25-21, 16-25) loss to Brown.  Leonard tallied 21 assists and 10 digs in the two matches.

Next match:  Dartmouth hosts Cornell and Columbia this weekend.



VB14-KanakaoleShae Kanaka’ole (Pilipa’a ’13), a senior 0utside hitter and her Whitman College split their two matches last week.  They lost 3-0 (18-25, 20-25, 13-25) to Whitworth College.  Kanakaole had 9 kills and 6 digs in the loss.  Whitman swept Lewis & Clark 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-21).  Kanakaole had 7 kills and 10 digs in the win.

Next match: Pacific University

toni_beck_195_wvbToni Beck (Pilipa’a ’14), a junior opposite and her Briar Cliff Chargers were 0-2 this weekend with losses to Hastings Colege and Northwestern College.   Beck is recovering from injury and expects to back on the briarcliffcourt soon.





Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo (Pilipa’a ’14), a junior outside hitter and her Wells Express team were 2-0 lastwellslogo week with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-12, 25-15) sweep of Johnson State and a 3-2 (25-15, 25-16, 12-25, 23-25, 15-9) win over MCLA.  Leite-AhYo compiled 13 kills and 21 digs in the two matches.

taylorTaylor Alicuben (Pilipa’a ’15), a sophomore setter and her  Highline Community College was swept 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 15-25) by Lower Columbia and bounced back to sweep South Puget Sound 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-12).  Alicuben turned in solid performances in both matches. She had 27 assists and 10 digs in the loss to Lower Columbia and 32 assists and 5 aces in the win over South Puget Sound.

player_Fuata_AlisonAlison Fuata (Pilipa’a ’15), a sophomore outside hitter and her Odessa College Wranglers have odessacollegeextended their winning streak to 11 matches with wins over New Mexico Military Academy 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20) and Frank Phillips College 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-10).  Fuata had 10 kills/7 digs in the victory over NMMA and a match-high 13 kills along with 17 digs in the win over Frank Phillips.

marshall-kadara-rosterKadara Marshall (Pilipa’a / Cuzins ’16), a freshman middle blocker/OH and her 2nd ranked westernnebraska-logoWestern Nebraska Cougars defeated Lamar Community College 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-20) and Trinidad State Junior College 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-22).  Marshall had 5 kills and 7 digs in the two matches.

Next match: McCook Community College
