Pilipa’a College Report 9/18

Shae Kanaka’ole (Pilipa’a ’13), a senior 0utside hitter and her Whitman College
team finished 2-0 this week. Whitman defeated Pacific University 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 25-11). Kanaka’ole had a match-high 20 kills along with 12 digs in the win. Whitman swept George Fox University 3-0 ( 25-19, 25-14, 25-22). Kanaka’ole led the way again with a match-high 11 kills.
Next match: Whitman heads to Salem, Oregon to face Willamette on 9/23.
Zoe Leonard (Pilipa’a ’15) a sophomore libero/setter and her Dartmouth team were 0-3 this weekend in the WVU Tournament in Morgantown, West Virginia. The
Big Green lost their first match of the tournament to Akron 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 17-25, 19-25). Leonard finished with her third double-double of the season with 15 assists and 10 digs. Dartmouth lost 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 21-25, 24-26) to Winthrop. Leonard finished with 19 assists and 8 digs. Dartmouth was swept 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) in their final match of the weekend by tournament host West Virginia.
Next match: Dartmouth returns home to face Harvard in their Ivy League Conference opener on 9/23
Ka’iu Ahuna (Pilipa’a 15) a sophomore outside hitter and her Eastern Washington Eagles
did not play this week.
The Eagles 5-4 overall.
Next match: The Eagles open conference play on September 22nd against Montana.
Toni Beck (Pilipa’a ’14), a junior opposite and her Briar Cliff Chargers were swept 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23) by the #1 ranked Midland Warriors.
Beck is recovering from injury and expects to back on the court soon.
Briar Cliff is now 6-4 for the season.
Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo (Pilipa’a ’14), a junior outside hitter and her Wells Express team went 3-0 this weekend defeating St. Elizabeth 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-17) 14). Leite-AhYo had 10 digs along with a match-high 10 kills for the Express.
Wells swept Bryn Athyn 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-14) Leite-AhYo finished with 9 kills and 4 digs.
Wells defeated Penn State-Berks 3-1 (25-9, 25-22, 25-27, 25-17). Leite-AhYo had 12 kills and 21 digs in the win.
Next match: 9/23 vs. Lancaster Bible
Taylor Alicuben (Pilipa’a ’15), a sophomore setter and her Highline Community College swept Olympic 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-20) and lost to Clark 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 16-25, 25-15, 15-10) . Stats were not reported for these matches. Highline improved to 13-3 for the season.
Next match: Highline plays Tacoma on Sept. 21st.
Alison Fuata (Pilipa’a ’15), a sophomore outside hitter and her Odessa College Wranglers were 4-1 this weekend. The Wranglers swept Houston Community
College 3-0 (25-5, 25-6, 25-15) Fuata had 2 kills in the match. Fuata had 8 kills and 17 digs in a 3-1 ( 25-8, 21-25, 27-25, 25-13) win over Brookhaven College.

Kadara Marshall (Pilipa’a / Cuzins ’16), a freshman middle blocker/OH and her #1 ranked Western Nebraska Cougars were 4-0 this weekend defeating #8 Salt Lake 3-1 (25-17,
26-24, 11-25, 25-19), Seaward County Community College 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-20), Garden City Community College 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-16) and Northwest College 3-1 (25-22, 26-24, 26-19, 25-15). Box scores were not available for these matches.
