Pilipa’a defeats Vaqueros-Heads to Gold Medal Round
- Updated: July 8, 2008
Pilipa’a completed another challenging day of volleyball with a thrilling 3-set victory over Vaqueros of Puerto Rico (25-17, 17-25, 15-10). Pilipa’a (9-0) wins their pool and advances to the Gold Medal Round to play Cal Air Volleyball of Canada in the Quarter Finals tomorrow morning at 4am HST.
Pilipa’a is the only undefeated team in the 48-team field.
“Our boys were on fire in the first game,” Coach Ecko said. “Vaqueros changed their lineup in the second set which caused some mismatches for us. We changed our lineup in the third set and started making plays. We got some key touches with our block and made some great digs. The fans, our families traveling with us and some new friends made during the tournament were cheering us on and chanting Pi-li-pa-a during the 3rd set which really fired up the boys.”
